Presentations?!?! WTF! I'm a programmer, leave that to the suits :-)

Well today is August 2 and I'm sitting in my basement with tonights exciting installment. Today my boss came up with the idea for a weekly meeting for each person to give a presentation on a techonology that we are interested in. I think the idea is to keep everyone updated on the latest things that are going on, and a great way to practice giving presentations. At first I cringed when I read it, as I thought that it'd be just another point of stress in my week and having to come up with a topic would be a pain. However, after thinking about it for a while, this is a golden opportunity to get good at giving presentations, without the burden of a large audience or a fat timeslot. It's just 5 minutes, with 5 minutes of Q/A. 1st week is going to be Evernote, my most favoritist software ever. (Are they ever going to port it to linux?)
I've been working out this week in an atempt to increase my energy and perhaps increase my cognitive functioning. I read that after 30 minutes of exercise, people have 30% boost in creative thinking. Only for people who exercise regularly, as the fatigue to 'out a shape' folks, seems to hamper their functioning. So I need to get in shape and then get some exercise at lunch. That's when I'm thinking about all the stuff that I couldn't figure out in the morning. I thought as a coder, I wouldn't have to creatively think, but it's what often stops me from solving problems. Coming up with creative solutions, is what separates good developers from great ones. Anyway, it's only been a few days but it's already making a difference in my overall well being. I'm happier, and my attention span seems to have improved. All this from sitting on bicycle for 30 minutes a day. I guess it's worth burning 30 minutes a day, if it gives you a better 23 and half hours a day. Lesson learned....
Oh man SSD's.... maybe another day, I gotta get to bed
